    RV Inverters for Plasma TV

Can I run a plasma TV on an RV inverter?

This is a question we get asked quite a bit on OutsideSupply.com. Many people are concerned about hooking up their plasma TVs to their regular RV coach inverter. This is because their RV inverter is a modified sine wave inverter. In this case I usually suggest that they purchase a true sine wave inverter and run it from the 12 volt cigarette outlet usually near the Plasma TV.

Here is what we did for one customer in particular.

This customer had a 42 inch Plasma TV with a 270 Watt draw. He was only interested in power the plasma TV on the power inverter. He did not have a Satellite dish or DVD Player so he was able to use just a 300 Watt Sine Wave Inverter plugged into the 12 volt socket to power his TV.

He decided to just always run the TV off of battery power since he felt his $1900.00 Plasma TV would not like the brownouts often found in RV parks.
