    Power Inverters

    Power Inverters

    Power Inverters

Power inverters are great devices that  can really make a lot of applications easy and quiet for the RVer. A lot of time when an Rver wants to run his or her  microwave when drycamping, they need to power up their generator. This is both noisy and requires fuel. Once an RVer installs a power inverter in their unit, they can just go ahead and run that microwave off their RV's batteries. Outside Supply carries a full line of power inverters and accessories to get the job done right with strong reliable equipment.

A power inverter is a device that converters DC power to AC power, or in simple terms, Battery Power to Household Electricity. A good clean power inverter will allow you to run a variety of electronics ranging from laptops, TVs, Microwaves, Coffee Pots and more off your batteries.

A power inverter inverter can be pretty easy to install in an RV. Here is a breakdown of a few things to consider when installing a power inverter for the first time:

    ·         Locate Your RV battery

    ·         Choose Location for Power Inverter

    ·         Measure or Calculate Distance to Inverter Installation Point

    ·         Determine Need for Remote Switch/ Remote Power Inverter Panel

    ·         Determine DC Voltage In Camper

    ·         Determine how you would like to use inverter ( Plug In or Hard Wire)

    ·         If Hard Wire Determine Where Transfer Switch will Be Installed

    ·         If Hard Wired Determine How 12 Volt Converter is powetred in RV
(Can't run from inverter, so will need to be powered only by Shore Power)

    ·         Make honest determination on your ability to do proper and safe install.
(Arrange electrician or RV Repair Shop to Install if you have any doubts)

    ·         Determine if Any Local Codes need to Be Met

    ·         Get all manuals and parts need for install

    ·         Read all Installation Sections of Manuals

I know it seems like quite a bit to consider, but once these items are addressed, you are well on your way to getting this job done right.

As far as the distance from the battery goes:

    ·         Read the Manual for MAX DC cable distances

    ·         Increase Cable Size when Requested

    ·         Fuse Properly and Where Directed

Once your inverter is properly installed, you will be on your way to clean quiet power. Check out our Article on True Versus Modified Sine Wave Power Inverters to make sure you get the right power inverter for you.
